netgo group continues to grow: Waterland Private Equity buys arxes-tolina GmbH
Hamburg/Borken/Berlin, January 7, 2021 – netgo group (“netgo”), the IT provider with branch offices in many parts of Germany, is expanding its IT service portfolio once again: After acquiring three companies in 2020, arxes-tolina GmbH (“arxes-tolina”) will now become part of the group. The Berlin company offers its customers a wide range of IT and software services with a focus on the public sector and the financial services sector. Together with the majority shareholder Waterland Private Equity (“Waterland”), netgo will further expand its presence in the German market with the acquisition of arxes-tolina and significantly expand its range of services in the field of software development. The sellers are the founders and managing directors Dr. Peter Heilmann and Ralf Berndt. The transaction, the details of which have not yet been disclosed, is currently still awaiting approval by the antitrust authorities.
arxes-tolina was founded in 2002 and is today a leading provider of high-quality, tried-and-true solutions and services in the fields of IT, software, and consulting. In the IT business area, arxes-tolina supports its customers with holistic and manufacturer-agnostic IT infrastructure solutions to further develop and improve their IT landscape, from planning and installation to commissioning and maintenance. In addition, the company has almost 30 years of experience in the development of intelligent software solutions for automating and optimizing business processes, which can be customized and quickly and efficiently integrated into existing IT infrastructures via interfaces. Comprehensive and cross-sector consulting expertise in the IT and software areas optimally round off the arxes-tolina portfolio. The company counts numerous DAX 30 companies, transnational corporations, as well as a large number of German Sparkasse (savings banks) and other well-known players in the public and financial services sectors among its customers. Headquartered in Berlin, arxes-tolina has a total of around 320 employees at 7 locations in Germany.
Founded in 2007, the netgo group has been majority owned by the holding company Waterland since the end of 2019, and it has been able to significantly expand its presence in the highly fragmented German market for IT service providers over the past few months as part of a targeted buy&build strategy. With a total of six acquisitions since the entry of Waterland into the market, including the cloud provider ComNet, business software specialist MEHRWERK, network and telecommunications experts commehr and workbees as well as medium-sized IT service provider CSM MeinSystemhaus, and now also arxes-tolina, netgo has both been able to expand its portfolio of IT services for medium-sized companies and to gain new customers and market share throughout Germany. The acquisition of arxes-tolina continues this successful strategy by developing additional customer-oriented complementary locations in southern and eastern Germany and unlocking cross-selling potential.
Benedikt Kisner, CEO of the netgo group, noted: “Our goal is to become a one-stop shop with a full offering of services for our customers. The strengthening of our portfolio in the area of software development and the cultivation of new customers throughout Germany are important steps along this path. We are therefore pleased to welcome the arxes-tolina team to the netgo group.”
arxes-tolina managing director Dr. Peter Heilmann also commented: “The partnership with the netgo group provides an ideal opportunity for us to embed our competencies and business areas in the framework of a strong group with a diversified service portfolio and a nationwide presence. Our profiles complement each other ideally, so we look forward to growing further with netgo and to writing a new chapter in the history of our company.”
Dr. Carsten Rahlfs, managing partner of Waterland, stated: “The growth of the netgo group over the past few months is remarkable. Not only did we deploy a focused buy&build strategy to increase the group’s geographical reach and thus the proximity to customers, we also added numerous new business areas, products, and services to the range of our offerings. Together with the management team, we have created a very well-positioned IT provider for German medium-sized companies. The customer focus of arxes-tolina on the public and the financial sectors brings two more solid pillars to the company. The acquisition of arxes-tolina is therefore an important component of our strategy.”
